SUMMARY:

Ideal Industries is seeking a skilled, reliable painter to join our growing company. In this position you will be responsible for cleaning and painting parts, ensuring proper storage and disposal of paint products, used filters and dry paint dust according to the State of Iowa procedures.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Performs the cleaning and painting of all parts.
  • Applies masking tape on areas not to be coated.
  • Performs final sanding on the parts when necessary.
  • Performs quality checks on all painted products.
  • Measures the paint on the painted products to ensure proper thickness.
  • Makes sure there are no excessive fumes from the paint or paint related substances in the area of others.
  • Makes sure proper guidelines are followed in the storage and removal of the paint products, used filters, and dry paint dust.
  • Occasionally uses the DA or grinder when necessary.
  • Performs assembly type functions of sub-work using hand tools, power tools, drill presses, grinder’s, or DA’s when necessary.
  • Follows all site health and safety regulations.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail are essential.
  • Willingness to cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position.
  • Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality by arriving on time and able to work overtime, as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to do any given job at a reasonable pace.
  • Ability to use different types of machinery and tools, including hand tools, on an everyday basis.
  • Willing to take the initiative to learn other jobs and sub-work assemblies and have the initiative to do them when they need to be done.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Familiarity with DA’s and grinders.
  • Able to work independently or as an active member of a team.
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Good knowledge of common fabrication and machining practices a plus.
  • Positive, willingness to learn and participate in a changing environment to reach a common goal and take the initiative to learn other jobs & sub-work assemblies.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Six months to one year related experience and/or training.
  • Knowledge of mixing, storage, and disposal of paint and paint products.

Required to perform work standing upright in a work cell for 8-10 hours per day and up to 6 days a week.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Lifting devices must be used or help must be requested for anything over 35 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance with or without vision aids.
